A FRENZY of Broken Stuff
Everything breaks at once. Three weeks ago, my furnace only blew cold air. Yes, I had fuel. The motor was dead. $200. Two weeks ago, my brakes started leaking. $250. Last week, my computer at home quit recognizing the hard drive. (Had it lost weight? Changed its hair color? I don’t know.) The tech wizard at work thinks it will be 2 figures. I suggested a social function with a few hors’doeuvres. “Computer, this is your hard drive. Hard Drive, meet your computer.” The tech thinks I’m weird.
Now, the dishwasher only wants to rinse the dishes. It won’t wash. It’s only 2-years old. In Pat World, dishwashers don’t break after 2 years … but I am known to have fantasies. The appliance store told me to reboot it. What? When did this start?
I went down to the basement and tried to figure out what breaker is connected to which appliance. Eventually (Translation: 15 or 20 minutes later and several trips back up the stairs), I switched off the right breaker. As instructed, I turned it back on 45 minutes later. Sure enough, it works great.
Maybe I need to be rebooted. It might clear all the bugs out of my system
